Your weekly update of news and happenings around Sanibel, Captiva and Southwest Florida.
All that rain we had in January (ugh, don't remind me!!) resulted in crazy record totals. Page Field recorded that almost 13 inches of rain fell in January - that's 11 inches more than our average of 2 - that's right, 2 inches! Wow, what a January we had. I tell you though, that didn't stop vacationers, snowbirds and residents alike from enjoying Southwest Florida and our beautiful barrier islands.
One of the best days of January was this past Sunday, the 31st, when we held the 3rd Annual Sanibel Captiva Heart Walk. This year's heart walk raised a whopping $35,000 for the fight against heart disease, stroke and cardiovascular diseases. CLICK HERE for more details.
Check out the next great events coming up:

Sunday, Feb 7th: Sanibel Farmer's Market at City Hall - 800 Dunlop Road
A recent article by CNN Money had a few items of information you need to know if you're selling in 2016. Home prices have continued their journey upward and will continue to do so in 2016, but at a slower pace. This indicates a strong economic market and the stabalizing of home prices. At the end of 2015 the Feds increased mortgage rates ever so slightly, that trend looks as if it will continue. Home buyers are anxiious to lock in their home price and mortage rate now before things continue to rise.
Selling or Buying in today's quickly changing market can be tricky. I will always use my knowledge and experience to get you to closing with your best interests in mind.
